It’s. Worth. The. Wait.
Psalm 27:14 NIV “Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
“Come on, Tami.” I urged my student to hasten and join the twenty-five others itching to get to the blacktop for recess.
The rustling of papers from her desk confirmed the momentum with which she was trying to carry out her task.
“Wait!” she called out.
There’s the word, the cumbersome word—Wait!
Waiting is difficult but essential and worth it.
This is a surprising admission from me who have bought into the meme, “Time is precious. Go, go, go, and do, do, do.” Caught in the rat race of our society of fast foods, high-speed connections, and immediate gratification, waiting—has become a feat. Something I’d rather avoid like the plague. Can you relate?
Waiting is inescapable. We wait for the light to turn green; for the doctor to see us; and as a writers, to get published.
As I put fingers on the keyboard to craft my memoir/self-help book, God opened my eyes. He taught me the value of waiting. I saw that my best writing emerged when I waited for His inspiration and words. His faithfulness embedded throughout my life as I struggled with anxiety, I patiently pieced every story, every miracle in my manuscript.
My life, a journey.
My story, a development like that of His Creation narrative.
Each of six days, He fashioned the entire universe. At the end of every day, He proclaimed what He created, good.
God who controls time took His time. Creation did not happen in a day.
He waited.
So I wait (With Anticipation I Trust).
With anticipation, I trust He will complete the good work He began in me. Trust that the God of the universe will give me everything I need and I discover, what we crafted together is good.
