Rest

Photography is a hobby Sal and I share. The distinction between us is, he is more of a portrait photographer while I go for pictures of nature. If you perused the gallery of my phone camera, you’d notice a preponderance of pictures of flowers, sunsets, sunrises, the ocean, birds, and benches. Yes, benches!

Why I love taking pictures of benches baffled me at first, but after mulling over it for a while, I discovered it is because they suggest a place of rest.

I have to confess, although I have always admired runners, and have family members who run, I am so far removed from that. Sal used to tease me because when my anxiety was at a high and I insisted on exercising, I could not even walk a block without having to stop several times to catch my breath.

Finding benches around parks and walking trails is a solace to me. It reminds me I can always stop when I feel physically tired or weary.

Like the relief I feel when I find benches along my walk, Psalm 62:1 comforts me when I get overwhelmed with the challenges in life. Jesus also said in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (NIV)

When the storms in life threaten to invade our peace, we can relax knowing we can approach Him who offers true rest.

  1. Way cool! Some very valid points! I appreciate you penning this write-up and also the rest
of the site is extremely good.

  2. Heya! I realize this is sort of off-topic but I had to ask.

Does running a well-established blog such as yours require
a large amount of work? I’m completely new to running a blog but I
do write in my journal every day. I’d like to start
a blog so I can share my own experience and views online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of recommendations or tips for new
    aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!

Hi, I am probably not the best person to ask because I am not very savvy with it. In fact, I am not sure I have a lot of people reading my blogs because I am still learning how to get it out there although I have been writing for a while now. Most of the work that is time-consuming is really the beginning stages-building your website. I hired someone to do it for me but it is expensive. I would say, learn from the webinars and info that is out there with blogging. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
