Going through what we’ve gone through the past year has opened my eyes to a lot of things. One “aha” moment for me is how everything can change in the blink of an eye. We are really not in control! Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher once said, “The only thing that is constant is change.”
Yes, change, marks our lives–from the very moment we are conceived, change occurs. We grow, develop, and (hopefully) mature in our physique as well as our ways. Sometimes we find change to be slow especially when we are waiting and anticipating something to happen. At other times, It occurs faster than we want it to, i.e. growing old.
However inevitable change is in life according to Heraclitus, I am comforted with the fact that it is not the only thing that is constant. Isaiah 40:8 assures us that God’s word will stand forever. God does not change. Scripture after scripture reminds us of this. Here are just a few:
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.” Malachi 3:6 “If we are faithless, He remains faithful— for he cannot deny Himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13 Numbers 23:19 “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”
We can be secure in these truths and have hope.
How do you respond to change?
I actually am a rare human that thrives on change. That only makes the Constance of Jesus more appealing to me! Lol, maybe I’m an enigma! 😂
Hi, Nita! Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. Isn’t it amazing how God creates each one of us so wonderfully and uniquely? Blessings to you and your family!
