My heart echoed the increasing pitter-patter of rain that roused me from my sleep at 1 a.m. this morning. As usual in response to early awakenings like this, I prayed Scripture over my children, Sal and I, Daddy, and everyone God brought to my mind. This slowed down the pounding in my heart and restored the calm in my soul, which allowed me to doze back to sleep.
David penned Psalm 62 possibly when his son Absalom rebelled against him (2 Samuel 15-18). Despite his circumstances, he began this chapter by proclaiming his confidence and trust in God.
There is so much truth in what Christian evangelist George Muller (27 September 1805–10 March 1898) wrote, “The natural mind is ever prone to reason, when we ought to believe; to be at work, when we ought to be quiet; to go our own way, when we ought steadily to walk on in God’s ways.”
May we learn from David’s example.
Have a blessed day!
